Arenal, Costa Rica

Arenal is a MUST while visiting Costa Rica

This was our first and only trip we did book with a travel agency and we could not recommend them enough. We used the company CRS Tours and they customized our trip to our budget, needs/wants, activities, and duration of the trip. We emailed back and forth figuring out or perfect vacation. All of our flights and shuttles(shared) between destinations where taken care of by them as well. The hotels that they pick and recommend are by far the best of the best as well.

Costa Rica was our first trip we took together that was out of the USA. When arriving into San Jose (the capital/where most flights arrive) we stayed one night and then headed out to our first destination- ARENAL. Our shuttle took about 2 1/2 hours from San Jose, making stops along the way to eat, use restrooms and take in the beautiful country side scenery. When we arrived to our hotel we where blown away by the surrounding beauty. The company we booked with recommended the hotel Montana De Fuego and we absolutely fell in love with it!!!

Since our trip was only 10 days long we could only stay in this location for 2 nights. The fist day we arrived we went for a quick hike that is attached to the hotel with AMAZING views and waterfalls. Right off the bat we were immersed in the nature which is what we love the most. After our hike we enjoyed the BEST margaritas at the poolside bar. Ending the night at the hotel restaurant with a nice relaxing meal.

The next full day in Arenal was Katie’s Birthday!! To celebrate we had an exciting excursion planned for the day. We were picked up from our hotel bright and early and drove about 25 minutes to RAPPEL DOWN WATERFALLS at Lost Canyon!!!! This was such an amazing experience we both really enjoyed. The tour started with mostly just hiking at first and then we were suited up and given directions to canyon down four different waterfalls. WHAT AN ADRENALINE RUSH!

After canyoning down the falls the fun was not quite over. Next up was white water rafting with the same group and company. We all hopped in a truck and were taken to Rio Balsa where we got suited up again and given lessons for how to navigate down a level 3-4 rapids. Our guide was super knowledgeable and informative when maneuvering us around. We stopped half way to enjoy a fresh snack and water where we also got to float down the river outside of the raft. We saw many different species of frogs, birds and many monkey swinging above us.
